Within our hand dyed yarn Collection is our new range of Welsh Yarn, 100% wool from Wales. This has been washed, carded, spun and plied at a third generation family owned Welsh mill, that also weaves some of our blankets and throws. We hand dye this yarn ourselves in our FelinFach Dye Studio using only natural dyes.
Farm to Yarn - Welsh Wool
We aim to support the supply chain from the sheep farmer's wool in Wales to finished yarn spun in a Welsh mill, a complete Welsh product, 100% wool from Wales from farm to yarn. We also have some skeins of undyed Welsh yarn, if you wish to use the natural colours of the fleece in your knitting projects or wish to dye the yarn yourself.
Farm to Yarn in Wales means that the animal (sheep, alpaca, goat - not necessarily a native Welsh breed) has lived and been farmed in Wales and the process of converting a raw fleece to finished yarn has been completed entirely in Wales. This undyed yarn from the mill is then hand dyed with natural dyes in our Dye Studio.

As ever, all our yarn has been hand dyed in small batches and dyed only using natural dyes - there really are no exceptions to this!

Hand Dyed Yarn - Natural Dye Process
By using quality natural fibre and sourcing ethically produced natural dyes, we are able to produce beautiful hand dyed yarn. The colours from naturally dyed yarn are enthralling. Hand dyed yarns may be repeated but they can never be exactly the same. The natural dyeing process will depend on where the dyestuff was grown, how and when it was harvested, the fibres being dyed, and the method of application we use.
