Our hand dyed yarn is naturally dyed in small batches from Welsh and UK yarn together with some specialty fibres. Our hand dyed yarn is dyed only with natural dyes, there are no exceptions!
"Taking inspiration from the landscapes of the Pembrokeshire coastline, FelinFach produces gorgeous, natural hand-dyed yarns."
The Knitter asked, "What dyeing processes do you use?"
“It depends on the yarn and the technique I would like to use. It could be a solid colour, variegated colour or hand-painted. I would be extracting the dye liquid from the raw material such as roots, bark or insect. I also use ethically sourced extracts. Some of the processes are dyeing in one pot on a heat source, or it could be an indigo vat or even both.”

The colours from naturally dyed wool are enthralling. Hand dyed yarns may be repeated but they can never be exactly the same. The natural dyeing process will depend on where the dyestuff was grown, how and when it was harvested, the fibres being dyed, and the method of application we use. Browse and know your knitting project will always be one of a kind, part of the beauty of a handmade product!
