All FelinFach Welsh blankets are hand woven at mills in Wales. Designed in Wales, woven in Wales and made with 100% pure new wool. Wool is practical, hard wearing and easy to care for. It is breathable and natural and will help to keep you warm in winter and cool in summer. A hand-woven, traditional Welsh blanket is a treasure to hand down to future generations.
Traditional Welsh Blanket Patterns
Our Welsh blankets vary in design, size and weight from heavyweight double weave reversible blankets to the traditional honeycomb weave blankets and knee rugs. Many of our Welsh blankets are woven with traditional Welsh blanket patterns, in particular the Caernarfon Portcullis pattern. All our Welsh blankets and throws are made from British wool and are not vintage or used or second-hand.

Welsh blankets have a long history dating back to the 12th century but during the 20th century, the industry almost disappeared. Currently there is a resurgence in demand for Welsh blankets and traditional Welsh blanket patterns.
Today, the Caernarfon blanket pattern or the Caernarfon Portcullis pattern is the most popular. Examples of this Caernarfon portcullis pattern are the blankets named Afon Elan, Aur Cymru and Brianne above. All our wool blankets and throws are hand woven in Wales. They are woven on traditional looms from 100% pure new UK wool in traditional Welsh blanket patterns but also in more contemporary colours and patterns.
