  • 3 Wick Candles - 5 Benefits of 3 Wick Candles

Here are 5 reasons why you might want to try 3 wick candles:

    1. Better burn: -The use of 3 wicks helps the candle to burn more evenly and cleanly. This can reduce the chances of tunnelling (uneven melting of the wax) the amount of soot and smoke that is produced, making it a healthier option for both you and the environment.
    2. Ideal for larger rooms or spaces: - They release more fragrance oils into the air as they burn more wax at once. With more wicks burning, a 3 wick candle can fill a room with scent much quicker compared to a single wick candle.
    3. Enhanced ambience: - The larger size of 3-wick candles creates more ambient light. This can create a cosy and warm atmosphere in your home, especially during cold or dark nights.
    4. More fragrance: - 3 wick candles typically have a stronger scent throw than single-wick candles. The multiple wicks help to distribute the fragrance more evenly throughout the room, providing a more intense and longer-lasting aroma.
    5. Aesthetically pleasing: - 3 wick candles come in various shapes, sizes and colours, and they can add some style and elegance to your decor. They also look beautiful when lit, as they create a flickering glow that can enhance your mood. They really are a 'statement' piece in any room!

3 Wick Candles - Questions and Answers

What's so special about three wick candles?

    • Due to the size of three wick large candles, they make a real 'statement' in any room. A result of being generally larger than single wick candles, they create more light, more atmosphere and fill any area with scent much quicker. Aesthetically, they really are special.

Do you light all 3 wicks at once?

    • Yes, if your candle has 3 wicks you should burn all three wicks at once. Burning only one wick will create tunnelling which isn't aesthetically pleasing and does not extend the life of the candle.

How do you stop a 3-wick candle from tunnelling?

    • Firstly, you should burn all 3 wicks at once. You should also ensure that the candle burns long enough for the melted wax to cover the entire surface of the candle. Whilst this is always important, it is even more so the first time the candle is lit.

How long does a 3-wick candle last?

    • The advice here is not really any different if the question was about a single wick candle. Here are 5 key 'rules' to follow.
    • Assuming you have avoided any tunnelling in the candle wax, the wax should be level and the wicks should all be the same length too.
    • The first burn of any candle should be long enough for the melted wax to cover the entire surface of the candle, usually 3 to 4 hours.
    • Trim your wicks to 5 millimetres before re-lighting.
    • Remove any debris from the wax surface before re-lighting.
    • Place your candle where there’s little or no draughts. Draughty air movements will feed the candle flame, causing it to burn faster than is ideal.

Why are 3 wick candles so expensive?

    • The main reason is that they are usually much larger than a single wick candle. They usually contain more than twice the amount of wax than of a single wick candle and the candle container is also much larger.

    Candle Safety

It is always important to treat your 3 wick candles safely and with care. Please note the follow candle care advice...

    • Never leave a burning candle unattended.
    • Place candles on a stable surface away from flammable objects.
    • Keep candles out of reach of children and pets.
    • Extinguish candles before going to bed or leaving the house.
    • Do not place candles too close together.
