How to Clean a Wax Melter or Wax Burner

Wax melts burners are a great way to add a touch of fragrance to your home, but they do need to be cleaned regularly. Over time, wax residues will build up inside the reservoir dish at the top of the wax melter, affecting its performance, appearance and more importantly its smell.

     Cleaning a Wax Melter

    • Allow the wax melter to cool: Ensure that the wax melter has cooled down completely before attempting to clean it. This is important to avoid burns or injuries.
    • Remove any solid wax: If there is any solidified wax in the melter, gently scrape it off using a plastic scraper or a spoon. Be careful not to damage the melter's surface.
    • Wipe the interior: Take a soft cloth or paper towel and wipe the interior of the wax melter to remove any residue or remaining wax. You can also use a cotton ball or swab dipped in rubbing alcohol to remove stubborn wax or stains.
    • Clean the removable parts: If your wax melter has removable components like a dish or tray, remove them and wash them separately. Use warm soapy water and a sponge or soft cloth to clean these parts. Rinse them thoroughly and dry them before reassembling.
    • Clean the exterior: Wipe the exterior of the wax melter with a damp cloth to remove any dirt or dust. If there are any stubborn stains, you can use a mild cleaner or a mixture of water and vinegar. Be sure to check the manufacturer's instructions to ensure that the cleaner is safe for the specific material of your wax melter.
    • Dry and reassemble: After cleaning, allow all the components to dry completely. Make sure there is no moisture remaining before reassembling the wax melter.
    • Replace wax or fragrance: Once the melter is clean and dry, you can add fresh wax or a new fragrance to the dish or tray as per the manufacturer's instructions.
