Cohana - Seki Sewing Shears

These exquisite sewing shears are imbued with the artistry of the traditional craftsmen of Japan.

  • The lacquer handles - handmade at Ebara Lacquer Works, Nagoya City , Aichi Prefecture. Founded in 1970.

  • The blades - handmade at Hasegawa Cutlery, Seki City, Gifu Prefecture.  One of Japan's leading cutlery towns founded in 1933. The light and stable cutting edge is made of durable and rust-resistant Japanese stainless steel.

  • Smooth fitting and easy to use, the warm lacquer handles are as functional as they are beautiful.

  • The shears are handmade not machine produced. There are individual differences in each piece, but as always this is the beauty of the handmade product in today's mass-produced machine finish.

  • Each set of shears comes in a leather case with gilt tassels, protected by a cloth wrap which is also a polishing cloth.
  • Available in a choice of two colours - Tamenuri (Burgundy/Brown) and Shunuri (Red)

Enjoy them and marvel at the craftsmanship of this age-old craft.
